The Bag Switcher

They say that experience is the best teacher…and that is how some people stumble on to a business opportunity. At least that is how the custom made product that I am featuring today became a reality.

Riddhi Doshi, 26, has a thing for bags. Which 26 year old woman doesn’t? Collecting bags for every occasion, in different colors, sizes and styles is a passion which is not the preserve of 26 year old women. Most women (old, young, working, housewives) and the like have a fetish for bags.

The problem arises when one has to switch the bag. We invariably forget some ever so important bit of clutter. One hectic day…Riddhi switched bags but forgot an important prescription in another bag. Sounds familiar?

It was then that Riddhi’s mother-in-law, Mita Doshi (who happened to be accompanying her at the time) came out with the idea of creating a pouch with compartments that could be transferred from one bag to another…switch the bag with the clutter. That’s how the “Bag Switcher” was conceived so to speak.

Cut to Circa 2010 (July) the two women made a few pieces and sold them at an exhibition and that was how the business plan took shape. There is method in madness that one finds in this pouch with six compartments; there’s room for everything (well almost) pens, cellphones, make up kit, keys, purse, sunglasses, a perfume bottle, USB pods, business cards, a pocket book, an iPod and even cables for your laptop.

Is It Easy to Use? When you switch bags all you need to do is grab the switcher by its small handles and transfer it to your next handbag.

What’s the Price? The standard pouch which comes in different colors costs Rs. 399/-

Can You Design Your Own Pouch? Yes… Switchers can be customized according to your needs… you could opt for different colors, have more pockets/fewer ones, different fabrics and different designs (the price depends on the design).

When Can You Get Your Customized Pouch? They supply all over India. If the bag is customized it takes about 5-7 days for the bag to be designed, made and delivered.
